FLORECER Yuma, AZ participated in the Small Town and Rural Students (STARS) College Network Counselor Tour of private research Institutions Vanderbilt University (Nashville, Tennessee) and Washington University (St. Louis, Missouri). This opportunity aligns with FLORECER’s mission to foster a college-going-culture and achieve equity in college access and attainment in the rural, southern border community of Yuma County, AZ.

The Small Town and Rural Students (STARS) College Network is dedicated to working with high schools and access organizations such as FLORECER to widen pathways to higher education for rural and small-town students. Stanford University is among the latest to join the consortium of colleges that participate in the STARS College Network. You can learn more at the link below:






At the FLORECER Board Retreat, UCLA Labor Center Project Director Janna Shadduck-Hernández, Ed.D. presented her research “ The Role of Family, Friends, and Colleagues Supporting Workers and Learners Navigating College”.

Scholarship Gala
FLORECER Executive Director, Audren Morris-Sandoval attended the Building Skills Partnership 2024 Scholarship Gala where they raised over $75,000 for student scholarships. These scholarships benefit the children of property service workers throughout California.



UnidosUS Annual Conference
Through the generous support of a stealth donor, the FLORECER Board of Directors attended the UnidosUS Annual Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada. It was an honor to connect with incredible affiliates and allies working to ensure Latino college student access and success.


FLORECER Executive Director, Audren Morris-Sandoval and several members of the FLORECER Board joined an informational session led by Dr. Rodrigo Dominguez-Villegas, Director of Research at UCLA's Latino Policy & Politics Institute. The Latino Data Hub initiative is set to revolutionize advocacy and policy-making across the United States by equipping Latino leaders with cutting-edge data analysis tools and skills.

The UnidosUS Fall Affiliate Convening Breakfast Plenary featured MALDEF President & General Council Thomas A. Saenz who spoke about the shifting legal landscape; threats to Diversity Programming.
